Anna is a Registered Psychotherapist, registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists ofOntario (CRPO) she completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Post-Graduate Certificate inTherapeutic Recreation and Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Anna has worked in the mentalhealth field for the past 8 years, including as a Recreation Therapist and Psychotherapist.  Anna has vast experience helping first responders navigate through the WSIB system, assisting individuals to feel in charge of their care and recovery. Anna specializes in working with first responders and veterans whoexperience emotional turmoil after years of compartmentalizing, emotional suppression, putting work beforeself; individuals who are experiencing the impact of cumulative and repeated trauma. Anna believes inworking from a holistic perspective, understanding how all areas of life (family, work, leisure, recreation)impact symptoms, and how symptoms impact all areas of life.

 

Anna’s work focuses on walking alongside individuals impacted by C-PTSD, PTSD, trauma, moral injury,addictions, depression and anxiety. Anna is dedicated to working with first responders, military personneland other therapists; having a strong interest in ‘helping helpers’. With a lens of curiosity and seeking to understand where our thoughts and behaviours come from, Anna’s work focuses on putting together the puzzle pieces to help individuals gain insight into their patterns and gain control of their experiences.Anna’s approach looks at why individuals chose to work as a helper and gain insight into how one’s experiences before their career impact their response to trauma exposures both in and out of the workplace. Anna has experience working with trauma-related symptoms and pervasive emotion dysregulation. This includes helping individuals to overcome what may feel like an explosion of emotions, by moving emotions through the body and improving ones internal resources for coping.

 

Anna helps individuals to work throughthe impact of trauma, to trust themselves, build and maintain trusting relationships with others, improveself-confidence, feel safe and regain joy in life. Some strategies and modalities Anna uses include:Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to understand thoughts related to power/control, safety, esteem, trustand intimacy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to work through intrusive images and nightmares, andCognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance andCommitment Therapy (ACT) to improve functioning and cope with distress.
